I needed some photos for the Paptu website, and after hours of searching, I managed to find a London photographer, that could do the photoshoot at the studio I wanted it to be at. I was excited to finally capture some professional photos for my Paptu, but a few hiccups along the way made things not as straight forward as I expected, because I couldn't find the address, and I packed the wrong trousers. Despite the challenges, it was still a high point of the day—seeing everything come together in front of the camera felt like a huge leap forward on my entrepreneurial journey.
A few more issues have popped up recently; my laptop suddenly broke, which was a huge blow. Without it, I couldn’t edit the video content I had planned to create for Paptu. So I had to go out, and buy a new one. I then, subsequently, spent all the rest of the day transferring files from the old laptop, to the new one.
I recently discovered that you can’t access the full content creation features on Canva, without moving to a paid plan. This meant yet another unexpected expense that I hadn’t budgeted for.
Adding to the stress, I had trouble logging into my other business account—Rich72—on my main phone. The issue was that both my accounts share the same mobile number, and this caused a login conflict. It took a bit of time, but I eventually figured out a solution to separate both accounts, and move forward again.
I also had to contact my graphic designer to get her to make some changes to the backgrounds on the marketing content she had sent over. Unfortunately, the wrong colours were added, so I had to ask for revisions. It was a bit frustrating, because I did give her clear instructions as to what to do, however, I was grateful for her willingness to fix the issues.
To top it all off, I received a message from Revolut saying they are in the process of cancelling my account, because of verification issues. After a few back-and-forth emails, my account was reinstated. That was a huge relief, because I thought I was going to lose all of my money.
Despite the setbacks, I did have a moment of surprise. Sienna Miller walked past me in Notting Hill. I managed to get a photo of her throwing her arms in the air. She was very beautiful, but couldn't help but notice how short she was. I thought the same thing when I met Jake Gyllenhaal, a few years ago. He was shorter than me as well.
Anyway, entrepreneurship is not hard, you just have to work hard. Often, even that's not enough to avoid things going wrong.
There's always going to be unexpected challenges along the way, but it's the way you deal with them, that determine, whether you get through them. I’m still moving forward, one step at a time.
