Hi👋
It's Jelani here! Nice to meet you, and thanks for joining me on my journey.
Setting up my business has been an exhilarating, yet challenging, journey, filled with bright moments of inspiration and bouts of frustration.
I've been focusing alot on market research recently. Understanding my target audience is essential for crafting marketing strategies that resonate and selling great products.
I spent months analyzing competitors, reading market trends, and gathering insights to ensure my venture stands out. While time-consuming, it did provide me with the information I needed to move forward confidently.
A significant part of my research included checking customer reviews on platforms like Trustpilot. I was amazed at how a simple assessment of competitors feedback could offer invaluable insights. It was enlightening to learn what customers appreciated and what they complained about. This knowledge gave me a fresh perspective on how to position Paptu in the market.
I've also turned my attention to enhancing my business and personal social media presence.
Establishing a strong online identity is critical, so I devoted time to creating engaging profiles on all platforms where my target audience hangs out. I also revisited some fundamental business books that I've got. They offer a wealth of strategies and inspiration for me to think creatively about branding and marketing.
On the technical side, I continued the setting up of my Shopify store. As I added new products, I felt an incredible sense of achievement, it was like I was actually making progress. At times, I've felt like I'm working hard, but not getting anywhere.
Before I forget to mention it, something weird did happen recently. Shopify sent me a notification that they debited my account, yet my balance showed no reduction. I subsequently decided to just leave it.
I also an email, from a scammer, trying to impersonate Shopify, asking me to, 'confirm my recently updated', bank account details. Perhaps the scammer should try not using a Gmail account next time.
I recently lost my passport, so I had to apply for a new passport, which was an extra expense that I could have done without. Then I had to travel to the passport office, which was the other side of London, go through metal detectors, and wait for hours in the queue. All that, just to answer a few questions.
Amongst my heavy workload, I found a brief escape in a personal hobby I enjoy, metal detecting. I do this up and down the country, especially in rural areas. This time I was in Norwich, Norfolk. As usual, I hoped to unearth some hidden treasures, but as usual again, I came back empty-handed. While frustrated, I reminded myself that every experience I have, adds a layer to my journey on this planet, even if it doesn’t yield any results.
I've been frustrated with my web developer recently, because some of the work he's done, hasn't been up to scratch, therefore there were a few things that have had to be done again.
Despite the ups and downs, every challenge is a learning opportunity, and the moments of doubt are just part of the process. I’m learning that entrepreneurship is not a straight path; rather, it’s a winding road filled with lessons-some tough, others enlightening.
As I close my laptop, I remind myself that tomorrow is a new chance to tackle these hurdles, build my dream, and grow my business’s foundation. With determination and persistence, I know I can turn today’s frustrations into tomorrow’s successes.
